They do it sooo well our friends in the south at the Rippon Music Festival... cleverly only held every two years, by the time it rolls around everyone's waiting with baited breath for the line-up announcement and to snap up tickets to what is undoubtedly one of the best open air music festivals in New Zealand... and set in one of the world's most beautiful back-drops, the Rippon Vineyard on the edge of Lake Wanaka, mid summer (...ah yes, that midland dry heat of the South Island is really quite extraordinary).
This year, as always Lynne and the team have chosen a fresh and diverse line up to play the event... LITTLE BUSHMAN • MINUIT • THE MINT CHICKS
FAT FREDDY'S DROP • IVA LAMKUM • PACIFIC HEIGHTS . THE BLACK SEEDS • ERU DANGERSPIEL • OPENSOULS . ELECTRIC WIRE HUSTLE • THE SLUR-TONES... and hosted by the crew with the mostest', the Sunshine Soundsystem and MC P.Digsss. Ya feelin this yet?
If you're an music festival fan, this is simply like no other. Well organised, leading musicians and crucially, well behaived and chilled punters means its not too full on if your in the mood to kick back on the rug in the sun with a glass and listen.
Photos and a feature video from Rippon 2008 documentary to come...
